Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture

29 03 2009

More pics on the tour around Kagawa prefecture.

Takamatsu is the main city in the prefecture, and differs a lot from Tokyo in that it has lots of open spaces, stores are much bigger and people use bikes and cars to travel around instead of using the train.

Konpira-san

29 03 2009

A few weeks ago I went with Kazumi to Kagawa prefecture in Shikoku. During our trip, we visited the Konpira Shrine, the most famous one in the region.

A Dark Ritual (Felipe’s Birthday)

29 03 2009

Back on February, we held some sort of cultist gathering to call forth spirits from the next realm. The result was something extremely bizarre that hopefully won’t be repeated ever again.

P1040209

One of many foul spirits that were released on that fateful night…

These are pics from back in January when we celebrated Akira’s birthday at his place in Odaiba.

A Christmas Something…

29 03 2009

These are some pictures from four months ago. I didn’t really have the time to upload them until now, so please forgive me.

In any case, for Christmas Eve we decided to go see Christmas decorations around Shinjuku. The place was nicely decorated, but it was pretty much the same as the previous year.

P1040167

For some reason, there was a huge queue of couples trying to get into that thing. :?

Another Random Karaoke Night

8 10 2008

Last week, we could finally take a break and find some time to have some fun, so we decided to go to karaoke. Well… there’s really nothing much to say about this night, except that it was a lot of fun. Enjoy the pics. :)

Balloon Playland, Odaiba (Baska’s Birthday Party)

2 10 2008

Yesterday, me and the rest of the kids went to have lots of fun and celebrate Baska’s birthday at Balloon Playland in Odaiba (Akira’s room at Tokyo International Exchange Center). The place, which looks like the presidential suite of a five star hotel (you damn Odaiba bastards!! ), was very nice and balloons gradually filled the entire room during the next three hours.

P1040081

Little Nam was sad because the other kids were teasing her too much. :P

Zushi

14 09 2008

No, it’s not misspelled… and no, it has nothing to do with food. This weekend we went to Zushi beach to celebrate Sourav’s, Vikram’s and Caroline’s birthdays, the end of summer and any other excuses we had to just go to the beach.

I had a bit of a cold and was sort of dizzy due to side effects of cold medication (please forgive me if I said or did anything too weird), but I still managed to enjoy the trip a lot.

Well, anyway, thanks a lot for the invitation guys!! :)

P1040067

Most of my pics turned out pretty dark like this, so please bear with it. :?

Festival Brasil 2008

7 09 2008

This weekend was this year’s Brazilian festival at Yoyogi Park. Despite the rain and everything, it was still very enjoyable and I managed to eat some nice pastel and coxinha so I was sort of satisfied. I was kind of missing the Latin American atmosphere already, so it was good for a change I guess.

These are whole bunch of old guys wearing leather clothing we found in the park…

Rene’s Boat Party Thing…

13 08 2008

Rene’s birthday was a few days ago, and to celebrate it, we had a nice trip around Tokyo Bay in his yacht (yeah sure :P ). The evening was full of nice sights, lots of people in yukata and horrible-tasting beer (I didn’t drink any, but was told it sucked as hell).

We all met at Hamamatsucho station and then walked for about 10 minutes to the harbor.

P1030986

Here’s the guy in person at the station. He came awfully late by the way. :?

Survivor: Mt. Fuji

8 08 2008

About two or three weeks ago, Hui told me about the idea of climbing Mt. Fuji, one of Japan’s most famous symbols. This is a feat that not even 1/4 of the Japanese population has actually done.

Since it sounded like a really nice idea, I decided to go for it. (Actually I had been wanting to do that for quite a while already) :?

P1030874

Here we are at the fifth station in Mt. Fuji, where the bus left us. We arrived at around 7:00 pm more or less.

The idea: climb the damn mountain for 9 hours before sunrise. :?

Happy Birthday @ Paulo’s

8 08 2008

It was that time of the year… The day of my birthday, and incidentally Hui’s, Hoon’s and Toh’s birthday as well, so we decided to celebrate them all together!!! (like last year) Then some stuff happened and we ended up celebrating it along with Paulo’s housewarming party as well (the more excuses we have to celebrate, the better… I guess).

We could even watch some hanabi (fireworks) over there. :)

P1030694

So here we are at the beginning of the party.

From left to right: Paulo, Hande (is it written that way?), Toh, Luke, Fernando (me), Hui and Ahn.

A Day at Onjuku Beach!!

8 08 2008

It’s summer and I had been dying to go to the beach but didn’t have the time. That is, until I got invited by Thiago, Ahn and Eliza around two weeks ago (thanks a lot guys!!).

The day was not really that sunny, which is great because otherwise I would’ve suffered some serious burns without any sunblock cream (I hate when that happens).

P1030684

Naoki’s Return to the Land of the Rising Sun

8 08 2008

Last month we got a small visit from our friend Naoki, who came to visit Japan for a while. It had been about one year since he left, so it was a really nice surprise.

P1030682

  • Front: Sourav, Ahn, Hui, Eliza, Willy, Mark and Thiago.
  • Back: Hoon, Florian, Naoki and Fernando (me).

After having some “sort of” pizza, we went all together to karaoke like in the “old times”. (read previous posts to see what I mean)

Japanese Class: Summer 2007 – Graduation Picture

2 07 2008

OK… here’s a picture that I forgot to post for about a year or so…. :?

It’s not so strange at all… coming from me (my memory is pretty crappy).

Try and see if you can find me (or yourselves… whatever). :)

I’ll give you a hint: I’m not on the first row. :P

Sorrow and Sadness (Sayonara Party)

10 03 2008

Well, since most of us are moving out of the dorm this month (our period of stay was of only one year sadly), someone decided to throw a party for the occasion.

The party itself was pretty much fun, but filled with really emotional moments as you can see.

I guess I will miss these strange parties. :(

P1030550

Natasha was trying to hide the tears (oddly enough, with a potato chip). She is only covering her right eye because Moldavians have been trained to cry in that way, and thus, using body liquids more efficiently.

Eliza’s Birthday

26 02 2008

Just a few days ago was the birthday of our friend Eliza, so, in order to celebrate, we all went to T.G.I. Friday’s in Shibuya (渋谷), just to experience what the Japanese believe is “American Tradition”.

P1030524

I was actually quite shocked to see this on the menu. The picture is not so clear but essentially is the price for “Chicken Caesar Salad”, below it says “Without Chicken”. I wonder… isn’t it Chicken Caesar Salad without chicken… just Caesar Salad? :?

Anyway, I ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad… WITH chicken of course. :P

The Day of Darkness (Felipe’s Birthday)

26 02 2008

So, a few weeks ago was the birthday party of our evil Colombian friend Felipe. Even though he is a pretty much… “special” person, the party was actually quite normal, except for the occasional evil invocations, bizarre stuff and the sort. :P

P1030485

Felipe, the main reason for performing holding this insane ritual party. Don’t be fooled by that harmless-looking face, he is actually quite the psychopath. :P

Let it Snow!!!

26 02 2008

These pictures are quite old actually (about a month or so). People say that usually snow doesn’t fall in Tokyo. This year was different.

Since I had been living in a tropical country until last year, seeing snow for the first time was actually quite nice, I loved it.

Akira’s Birthday Party

8 01 2008

The first post of 2008!! :D

By the way, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you!!!

Sorry, it’s been more than a month since the last time I wrote anything here. I’ve been really busy lately, that’s why.

Well, on Saturday, we celebrated Akira’s birthday in the multipurpose hall.

P1030470

To add some kind of secrecy to the party, these guys decided to create a kind of maze in front of the door. I wonder how many people got lost inside… Did they ever come out alive?? :?
